Sara R. Ellis

Sara R. Ellis graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2011. She earned her undergraduate degree from Middle Tennessee State University, where she graduated magna cum laude and received a Bachelor of Science in Recording Industry Management with a concentration in Music Business and a minor in Public Relations.

Prior to joining Miller Legal Partners, Sara began her litigation career working on high profile entertainment and intellectual property cases with a focus on music copyright litigation. Her portfolio includes Williams v. Bridgeport (the “Blurred Lines” case) which resulted in a $7.4 million jury verdict.

Sara also served as a Judicial Clerk for Chancellors John F. Weaver, Daryl R. Fansler, and Michael W. Moyers, in Knoxville, Tennessee and as a Judicial Clerk for Chancellor Carol L. McCoy in Nashville, Tennessee.

Sara was on the Editorial Board of the Tennessee Law Review, an editor for Transactions: The Tennessee Journal of Business Law, authored Copyrighting Couture: An Examination of Fashion Design Protection and Why the DPPA and IDPPPA are a Step Towards the Solution to Counterfeit Chic, 78 Tenn. L. Rev. 163 (2010), and co-authored Article V Constitutional Conventions: A Primer, 78 Tenn. L. Rev. 663 (2011). Sara was also a member of The Saul Lefkowitz Trademark Moot Court Team and the Moot Court Board.

Sara received the Excellence in Intellectual Property Award and Awards for Excellence in Legal Process, Administrative Law, and Law, Science and Technology. While in law school she served as the Student Bar Association president.

When not in the office, Sara enjoys international adventure travel and exploring archaeological sites like Machu Picchu or natural wonders like the Amazon rainforest. Sara is always game for new experiences and has crossed several items off of her “to do” list including sky diving, bungee jumping, hang gliding, fire walking, taking a trapeze class, and even butter making and goat yoga. When not working or exploring, Sara and her fiancé love to spoil their rescue Golden Retriever, Copper.
